Hi, I am a 44 year old guy from Ayrshire. I'm married with two young daughters and have a professional career, although not in farming. I was brought up as a child on a family farm, Midtown Farm, Cornhill, Banffshire and have the utmost respect for farming and the countryside. I've been a fisherman and a gun user since my early teens and now have a passion for hillwalking. While my role on the farm was varied, vermin shooting was an obvious favourite as a young boy. Unfortunately since my first daughter was born ten years ago, I have not been actively shooting and as such have not retained any land for gun use. I was a member of a syndicate ten years ago but this post is not simply about a land lease in order to keep a shotgun licence. In fact, I've had no problems keeping a valid licence despite my guns not being used. What I am seeking is land that is suitable for a small calibre rifle to enable me to get a firearms certificate and allow my shotgun licence to expire. My interest is in the management of the deer population within the wider Scottish countyside. In order to shoot on Foresty commission land, stalking qualifications are generally required. I am seeking local land to shoot in order to apply for my FAC and prepare for stalking exams. If the land requires vermin control, I am happy to manage that too. I hope I have conveyed an honest reflection of my character, with respect for agriculture, land and livestock at the forefront. If you have land or know anyone in the community who would be happy to discuss this with me, please let me know. Thanks
