good evening all i don't know if anyone will reply to my message but we are a family looking for some land to stay on/off grid out of the way and preferably with a water source or one close by, the land would be used also to grow enough fruit and veg that we can we would be happy to share what we have with you and help if necessary we are in Berkshire willing to travel currently trying to find suitable mobile housing so if there is already a cabin/caravan/mobile home on your land that would be a bonus. we are willing to build and farm if it comes to it. our future is about to change dramatically and i want out of the city if anyone is out there with spare land going to waste we wont be any bother!
please reply or message dont know how this works have just signed up thanks!

Do you really think this is the best thread to post such a request...? :banghead:

But , as mentioned above, you may find someone mad enough to entertain the idea in Devonshire... (y)

Have you investigated the planning issues you will encounter? Creating a new dwelling in the countryside is very very difficult as many a farmer on here will tell you. If it was easy London would be empty by now!

I can assure you we are not making this decision because it is an easy one, I know it will be very difficult but I imagine living where I am now will be much more uncomfortable in the months to come now unfortunately. If its possible to find someone with the land that we can use we are prepared to try our very best to make it all work..

If you live in an urban environment do you think you actually have any skills required to live off land ? do you think its easy to grow and kill enough food to feed a family all year round in the UK ?

I think a lot of people watch too many c4 dovumnetaries !

You may be right alot of people wouldn't be able to or would think its some sort of holiday, this will be hard work and I fully acknowledge that!
There's alot more that you can live off of then most people know as long as we have some kind of water source, some land to grow on, forest/woodland close would be a huge bonus for food and materials.
We have a small amount of food and water to keep us a while.

Nothing is for free in life and nothing comes easy I know that but with the correct knowledge and mind set many things are possible.

I'm not here begging for land I've just humbly asked if anyone has the spare land and would consider a family growing and living on part of that.

Well done for thinking outside the box and wanting to do this
But
You will probably have to buy a couple of acres in order to do this
A couple of acres is prime pony paddock territory especially if you want to live
Will probably cost £100k+ to get the land
You won’t be allowed to forage in someone else’s wood... that’s poaching
You might not be allowed to drink water from a stream without treatment
You wouldn’t be allowed any living accommodation without planning and sewage treatment and etc etc

Best advice is to contact as many Rural Land Agents as possible .... they may know of something suitable
But you would need serious cash to make this work
I’d guess £250k +

Have you considered moving to a rural location in a small terraced house in a village Somewhere that’s cheap to buy. ??
I bet a £20k house in Coundon orFerryhill is cheaper than where you live in BerkshiRe ???
