We had a look at a plot the last week 1/2 acre Amenities land with river frontage on the Severn a bit over price though £19,000. The land looked Ok and was about the best looking plot their to be fair. but it was in a bad area of Gloucester where there is a lot of Vandalism , foreign Travelers & Major fly tipping. Not a safe place to be at an end of a muddy track. As you can see from the photo the gate posts are burnt where someone has attempted to burn them down.So this one was a definite No as we were also Pre warned by the Estate Agent to go look at the land first then get back to them.

If that is the land that you can see off the A40 on the right hand side as you head towards the A40/A417 roundabout with the existing 'travelers' already set up in the area, then I would defiantly be giving it a wide berth!

Stay away from that lot. That field will be under water now.

Yes the Land we Viewed was on a Travelers site which was the biggest Red Flag for Us & the fly tipping/vandalism.

Though the Plot was a good size and we were not too worried about the flooding as would have be using it for a Nature reserve for wildlife Photography.

Hopping to get some where Local or at least within 50 miles of my Location. But the farther away the harder it is to manage & maintain the land.

Size from minimum of 1/4 Acre to maximum of 2 acre would be Ideal

We have a budget of 10k to 19k max

We are also watching a few websites also for a property i.e. woodlands for sale, woods4sale, onthemarket, uklandandfarms.co.uk

Sadly due to recovering from Bowel Cancer I am Shielding at the moment & with the current lockdown can not Travel far from my location. So will be waiting to start the search again as soon as Lockdown is lifted.

Have lost out on a few Woods for sale manly due to Shielding and can not travel at the moment to view the properties because of Lockdown and Shielding situations. So have to be patient and hopefully find the right plot when the Covid situation improves.

The main am of buying a plot is for Wildlife Photography & Wildlife Projects as retired now due to ill health.
My wife & I both into wildlife Photography.
The wife works for the NHS and is interested in doing some basket making as well as a hobby and a plot of land would give us an area to coppice the raw materials willow for making baskets.

Regards John

Best of luck. I have a feeling your budget may be a little limiting but hope you find the right place.

It could be worth befriending a landowner who has the ideal place already and asking if you can rent or just drop in. If the main attraction is the photography rather than development.

I allow a beekeeper to place hives on my land. I really can’t quantify any benefit to the crops I grow. But I feel it’s a good thing to encourage and want to help him. He’s no trouble or hassle to me at all. He kindly gives me a few of pots of honey a year, but that’s his choice to. 🙂

Have been mostly looking at Woodland though other types of land are also of interest.

The woodland below a bit of a distance away but would have been ideal example as would have been just Re establishing the coppicing of the Hazel & adding Willow to the land for coppicing & repairing the Access track for Parking. was £16k

Sort of Woodland interested in Sadly Sold

Other Woods that were of interest
