Hi Bipper,

I’d ideally be looking for landless than 2 hours drive from Glasgow but for the right plot I’d be happy going a bit further. I’m looking to use the land for recreational purposes and build a small off grid structure on it for my small family to use. Do you have any land that you would be looking to sell at all?

Plenty out there - just need to look at the various sale websites. You will need planning permission though if it's a house plot you're after, so budget for a good few quid.

Would be unusual that someone would be keen to sell but hadn’t advertised.

Plenty crofts out there in Caithness and Sutherland, last I looked, and quite a few house plots on the west coast too.

As beautiful as Caithness is I’d ideally be looking for somewhere closer to Glasgow.

Try the local crofting/farming Facebook pages. Also land agents and solicitors. Quite a few house agents getting about these days. Don't forget to check out rain fall figures and midge numbers!

The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors used to produce a book listing all the surveyors, you might be able to access a copy through the public library service. Try searches on FB using specific key words, e.g. "Highland", etc. so "Highland Farming", etc. should come up. Solicitors have their own groups. The Law Society? Public librarians are trained to help in these sort of searches.

Good morning Alister,
I have a 16 acre plot of land for sale in North Lanakshire, Scotland. It is unusal in that it is long and thin with an average width of about 150 feet and over 2 miles long. The site has been used for agriculture for the last 60 years or so. It is partially fenced with many self seeded mature trees within. It has 4 x 4 road access and as it is over 5 hectares in area, a barn can be erected under permitted development, without PP. I am just about to but it up for sale in auction with a reserve of £30,000, that's £1,875 an acre, so very cheap.
If it's of interest I would need to know this week as I will be committed to auction sale from Monday 17 July 2023.

Did you get my email. I have a 16 acre plot of agricultural land for sale at £2,500/acre you won't find cheaper land.
Located North Lanarkshire 25 miles south of Edinburgh.
