Landless keeper

Hi Everyone,

I don't suppose anyone might be able to help, we're registered landless keepers but currently run 65 sheep across multiple different paddocks, with most of them on our TLA.

I was wondering if there is any funding or grants I could apply for, as the farm I work on gets multiple different ones from countryside stewardship etc. I've asked the farmer if he knows but he isn't sure.

Thank you for any guidance

I don't know for sure, but as well as having an sbi, you have to be able to reasonably expect to be in control of the land for the length of the scheme (Cs/sfi) and or otherwise to keep/maintain the items for at least 5 years (cs capital).

You should be able to get fetf grants, as they are open to contractors who don't necessarily have land of their own, and you might get animal health review grant which pays for a vet review?

as l understand it, land users can claim from this year, even if they do not draw SFI on land.

we rent 65acres, where the owner doesn't claim, nor do we, from this year, its SAM3, at £141 ac, which we can claim.

but its a mine field, once you get into it, worth doing if you can.

Thanks everyone, I still haven't done much with it yet, too much going on. I'm sure at least half our grazing area's I could ask the landowners for some form of lease allowing me to use the land etc for the period of time needed, if that is what would open the doors. Every little helps at the moment, I don't suppose there is somewhere I could go for proper advise?
