Have a friend who is looking for a classic landrover with a cherry picker, hes been looking for a while but only seems to be able to find newish machines, does anyone have one in the nettles or know of a good place to start looking, he is after more of a project more than a minter, cheers

What about overland engineering? I'm pretty sure they converted a lot of land rovers to MEWPs. I don't know about other areas but certainly east anglia and Kent the electricity board has gone over to Isuzu dmax with bucket on, not many land rovers about now what ones there are usually auctioned off

All the ones at auctions seem to be fresh from utilities and are way too new. He is after something 20+ years old with a price tag to match, ill pass the info on, cheers

Trouble is ,,if he finds a project , both the landy and lift will need a boat load spending on it ,then getting it Loler tested and passed .
Might work out more in the long run than getting one ready to use

He likes his landrovers and knows them inside out, so wont be to phased about anything connected with them, The lift on the other hand will only be pins bushes and some basic hydraulics?? as long as its not cracked and welded there wont be much more to it will there?

Yeah all the ex utilities would I imagine be td5 at latest as they do get a fair bit of stick so nothing stays around too long. Some of the tree boys may have some older ones kicking about, there is a forum called arbtalk may be worth him going on there they have a marketplace etc could always post a thread. There isn't much to the boom like you say other than pins and bushes and pump will likely be powered off PTO so that's all mechanical. The only thing is if it were to be used in anger it would need to be loler tested every 6 months. They are pretty thorough and it may be the boom is found to be no good anyway even the new ones fail regularly, not sure if you would need a loler for private use.

My mate will probably be selling this soon.
It's quite an early defender but has had a 200tdi fitted.

He was going to take the picker off it but plans have changed

Cheers for all the replies, he has mentioned arbtalk before so assume that is one place he has checked along with the likes of eBay etc.
@TripleSix have just past your photo on and it’s sounds like it may be a potential candidate, can you try and find out some more info about it, cheers

What would you like to know?
It's all in good condition, all works, he was using the cherry picker last month but the loler test has run out
