We recently got an hp laptop, the computer has been fine but we went to windows 10 which has been a nightmare. Constantly needing updates and patches to keep it going. Anybody else found this or is it just us?

I have had Lenovo's recently and yes they are cheap and look a bit tacky, but they have very large storage and are really fast. Technology is still moving forwards and I change them every 3 years. You get two years warranty with them anyway and I risk the next year as the extra warranty is not very good.

New installs will need a lot of updates.

The updates are mostly to keep the system efficient or safe against outside threats which change everyday, I've never found them to be a problem as you can set the computer to update when your not using it (mine is set to 2-5am)

Least they don't charge you for the continued support!

A plethroa of updates on a new machine that will have an early OS build factory installed, and then sat on a shelf for abit is quite normal. It will calm down.

How do you find the fingerpad on your Lenovo ???. I bought myself a Lenovo in the New Year, and ended up buying a Wi-Fi mouse as i
found that every time i left clicked on the pad, the drop down menu popped up as if i'd right clicked. Tbh- i prefer the mouse, pin point
accuracy.

HP been apart around 20 times.

I extended the warranty so they'll keep turning up to fix it. All silly things like mouse pad and the hinges , the hinges come off he back cover , need a new back cover. The frame holding the mouse pad in is tiny , breaks and renders the bottom cover scrap. Like I say all silly things.
Engineers have been spot on bar one who put it back together and f**ked off not plugging keyboard in.... I think a good chunk of the Hemmersbach crew have been here.

If you really hate computers I’d go to a local independent shop and have a word. You may pay a little more but they will fix it and keep you going if it plays up.

If you are a little more brave go online to a store like pc specialist or novatec where you can get a machine for your needs. They do not put junk you don’t need on machines. This is what I do,

Deals can be had in pcworld but lower quality and preinstalled junk means be careful but they will have something to suit you.

Don’t just go for the cheapest, but you don’t need anything mega. Lots on here know more about computers than me but I would look for a solid state drive (it starts quick) and a middle of the road processor. Intel i3 or 5 depending on price. If you do that all the other parts will be ok.

The fingerpad on my Lenovo is dogshit tbh. Every time I use it I get annoyed and think I'll buy myself a mouse and then forget until I go to use it again and it's still sh!t:banghead:

I must have got used to it as I don't have a problem. All I would say that until you get a new laptop you have no idea how much faster and better they are now.

Bought a Lenovo a couple of months ago. I'll admit I was skeptical as I would have spent a fair bit on computers before but wasn't in a position to do so this time. Absolutely no complaints, it wasn't expensive, it's fast, and I find it easy to use anyway, very happy.

bought a second hand from mycheaplap.co.uk for my son , you will get a lot more of a laptop for your money than a new basic machine , look them up and you add on the different spec of the lap top you fancy and they build up the laptop to youre needs and add the soft ware that you require . You wont go far wrong with a Dell ,
