Want to show the desktop from laptop on to a large TV screen. It's actually a media type screen with USB ports etc.
Is Chromecast the most sensible/cost effective option? Just for a few meetings really when it's easier to show on a TV to multiple persons rather than huddling around a laptop.

Can you not get away with just using an HDMI cable?

If all your kit is fairly modern, you may be able to use Wi-Di which is essentially what Chromecast does, but without the need for a Chromecast.

Just Google and see if you are compatible.

Don't really want cables as TV may be 3mtrs away from user.
Wi-Di seems to be discontinued now just having had a search? Is Miracast similar or Intel unite but not sure on cost?

Ah, got ya.

Miracast is basically the same tech as WiDi, but it is the adopted standard. WiDi was intel proprietary. This would be the cheapest and likely easiest option for you right now.

Intel Unite is very different, it's a conferencing/telepresence service. It does the kind of thing you want, but I think for what your after its a bit much.

Failing that, the chromecast is a safe bet.
