Laser level

The VAT number for the first ad does check out....sort of. I think we can work out whats going on. So can HMRC, so just be careful if reclaiming it.

A Topcon RLH4C straight laser lever is about 5-600 quid + another 50-60 for a tripod and staff. If you go upto a dual grade your looking at 1600-1800 quid plus tripod and staff.

And the difference between the two are ??? besides the price. Ps me thinks Ray will not like the little comment about Ford's but I agree with you.

An RLH4C will only do level, a dual grade will do slope in 2 directions for drains etc etc.

Ps. Probably won’t agree about fords, but after 2 years of having a Ford 2000 to drive I’m off em for life. I still have the nightmares 25 yr later !.

Is that the dual grade one with remote control ?.
If so I was originally looking to get that one but instead opted for a Leica 680 dual grade with lithium battery, charger and better rod eye. It worked out to be about two thirds what the Topcon was.

I've 2 Leicas single grade, no issues and they get a lot of work.
I've had a couple of cheap datum dual grades and they've not lasted at all.
Cheap laser levels are just not worth the money imo

Yeah I’m really happy with my Leica, a remote control would have been nice like the Topcon has but I’ll live without it.
I’ve a mate that bought a Datum and it didn’t last long either, a lot of the cheaper ones on eBay look a lot like Datum clones to me. Then there’s also the fact that with the cheaper ones can they be calibrated ?, but I suppose it’s all down to how much your gonna use a laser.

@Daniel how is the level going?

I did tag him unless he’s either flat out using it or it’s sh!te!:geek:[emoji23]
Sorry!

Haven't used it for a while but it's absolutely fine for getting a level, setting up concreteing boards, and so on. I never got the function to work which is supposed to put a fall on the laser, whether that was because it's a cheap level, I couldn't read the Chinglish instructions or what I'm not sure.

If you're spending ££££ on a major project then spend a bit more on a better one that's a bit more sturdily built. If you're just laying a few concrete pads and want to be sure the rain will run where you want it to then this will be fine.

Well this laser level job is a complete mine field, top and bottom of it want to find levels for field drains, or falls as it may be, so a half decent true grade level with clip on receiver for digger jib is a grand plus or is true grade to posh, or has someone got better ideas, lam lost with it all.thanks

I’ve got a Datum machine control receiver, it’s not the best in the world but it works.
