Laying Water pipe

Hi all, need some advice /help. I need to lay approx. 1000m of water pipe, using 32mm struggling to get it in 2 lengths of 500 each, Id rather not put lots of joins unless necessary. Also can anyone recommend someone in Devon that lay the 100m with a trencher, it's that or digger and more time than I have at present.
so if anyone has any contacts for long lengths of pipe and or reasonably priced co for trenching I'd be most grateful.

I think 150m is the most you'll get on a coil in 32mm from most suppliers, you can get longer coils in bigger sizes but even then only around 200m I'd imagine.
it would be worth using electro fusion couplings if your worried about the amount of joints, if done correctly a fused socket will outlast most of us i'd imagine.

I got a quote for 500m x2 but was stupidly 300 more than x shorter lengths, I'll look into the electro fusion , belt and braces , saves me fixing leaks in the future. Thx Jake

Mole Valley Farmers had someone that would lay water pipes they use to promote do probably worth a phone call to MVF Direct

Where does everyone get their fusion joints from? I've got a load of pipe to put in later this year and don't want to have to dig it up again. Was thinking of pressure testing it once it's in the ground before all the ends are plumbed in.

I get all my pipe and fittings off these guys

They’re local to me but they send stuff all over (even overseas) I borrowed the fusion welder off them but you can hire them no bother, the joints are cheaper than ‘normal’ compression fittings

We had one fail on the manifold/manhole joint on the groundsorce loops when backfilling, sprinkling sand over the couplings and a jet of water came out. They re did it with a new one. Never though of cutting it open. I’ll have a look as I’m sure I still have it.

This one wasn’t a faulty one, I just sacrificed one to have a look at it, in the end I ended up with a 90deg elbow too when plans got changed slightly, haven’t got round to cutting that one yet

I work with them regularly fixing gas leaks/ relaying mains and you get some that don't seem to hold even after correct pipe prep( scraping up and cleaning) but I find it's a lot less than what you get compared to pushfits. A score in the pipe usually leads to a leak I found.

IIRC this one had either slipped out a bit or was fused as an angle. All pipework was pressured up to 2 bar and it held that!! It was the sprinkling of sand, and I mean sprinkling not dumping of sand around the chamber that disturbed it

Goes to show you then always keep joints exposed until tested/pressurised before backfilling, nothing worse than a wet patch appearing 2 weeks after laying!

I would be able to supply some fusion fittings if anybody is ever in need, rated up to 3 bar and up to 125mm in size.
