Leader Grants for Mobile Sheep Handling and EID

I am wondering whether anyone can help me! I am a long suffering farmer's wife tasked with completing a Leader application for a grant for a mobile sheep handling system and EID with weigh.
The application form is a nightmare!!! Has anyone applied that would be willing to help me? I am struggling with the justification, especially the market need and demand sections.. and don't even get me started on the supporting evidence that is required!! I think they are trying to put people off applying!!
Any help appreciated!

Why go through leader?

I take it you are in England?

There is a simplified scheme out since a month which requires a lot less form filling.

There are threads on here but I can’t quite find them.

This is the scheme, about a 40% grant providing you have a holding number and are within the criteria.

Thank you but we have applied to the Countryside Productivity Scheme for something else. (And the scheme has now closed for applications).

I've done a leader form for cattle handling. Our council ran a very helpful training session (I was expecting it to be a waste of time!) about filling in the form.

Firstly, I think your handling system comes under Priority one, farm productivity. The page below has a link to the different priorities as a download.

They told us that for handling the market need and demand was less relevant but to try and put as much as you can, for example are you going to weigh lambs more regularly therefore more likely to meet market/abbatoir spec?

I was applying for a dairy youngstock handling system so emphasised better growth rates and subsequent reduced vet and med bills, lower replacement rate, increased yields.

With the quotes you need three and it is essential that you get proper quotes addressed to you with the supplier's name, address, company registration number and VAT number. They have to follow them up to make sure they are legit. The items quoted for must be detailed, and must be equivalent to each other. Quotes were the hardest bit for me - they take a lot of chasing!

Cashflow forecasts - I already do these so I adapted them to show the benefits of the handling system - lower vet bills, increased yield etc.

Otherwise, try your Leader area contact. Ours was very helpful - they want to get this money spent before Brexit.

Claim dates: allow plenty of time, I've had to amend mine twice due to slow supplier's.

Anything else, ask, it's a while since I did mine and I'm replying from the sofa drinking wine!

Good luck!

It might not be relevant, but if you don’t apply/receive the grant, RAPPA (and presumably the others) must have sheds full of secondhand and nearly new mobile yards, that have been taken in as p/ex since the Welsh scheme came out. The market for those yards into England must have been hit hard by the English scheme coming out, so they’d surely be keen to do a deal on them now.:sneaky:
