leanto roof question

Morning. quick question for quick project (last minute idea by the diffuse pollution project) . putting a leanto roof over a yard 90ft long and 15 ft wide which has to be finished asap. put the frame up over the weekend now need to sort the roof.

to save taking of existing roof to cut in the new sheets i was wondering if to put a run of 10 ft rooflights the full length as these would just slide up in under the existing sheets and then a row of 6ft fibre cements below nearest the guttering.

any reason why not?? will it look stupid?? will cost a little more but time is of the essence and i can get these tomorrow and put them on by myself by tomorrow night this way.

thanks hc

i have found the roof lights don't last and need replacing about 10 years for us on big six they go brittle and then the wind takes them out
and obviously they are not as strong not something i would do have roof lights in a row with out a cement fibre break iyswim
could you not do the lean to slightly lower than existing roof and put a lead flashing does not have to be lead but you get my drift

They won't last 5 minutes, they need a sheet either side for strength, personally I would do every other, not a big job to lift the sheet and slide it up.

You will still have to remove sheets , to mitre the corners , or it won't sit flush.

umm. they have given me a few more days to play with. will forget the all roof light idea then!!! when i mitre the corners do i just need to lift the next row up enough to get the grinder in or do they have to come right off. might get away with taking the bottom row of nails out and then loosen the top row so i can lift and prop while i mitre the joints.

Only just seen this thread again,no need to remove the sheets, mitre them in situ.(y) I always mitre while on the roof.
