I know a fella that leased a pickup and got charged a fair bit for paint dings etc when he handed it back at the end of lease. How do any of you that have leased experience of that. He decided it was better to purchase on finance for his next pickup.

Hi we have leased for a while and never had any issues on handing back. Lease companies are much kinder with commercials than none commercials.
We are looking at buying now though as lease prices seem to have shot up a great deal.

I forget what they were charged but it was quite a bit. The pickup had been looked after but had a few marks and paint rubbed off in the tray as it had no liner. Outside was clean apart from a couple of supermarket Carpark door dings. I’ve never considered leasing to be fair as buying as looked marginally better.

Plenty of small body shops offering "end of lease" repairs. Put the dings right before handing back.

Been leasing for 20 years and we’ve never had any issues handing back vehicles. In fact got a Navara being collected today.

We sent a trashed L200 back in 2018 and the total bill was £1250 + vat. There was dings on most body panels as well as scratches. It was a 3 year lease so it added £35/month to the already cheap price of £205/month plus vat.

That’s not the norm though and we do try to look after them but with commercial vehicles such as a pickup they do not asses the bed as it’s used for commercial purposes. We’ve had 8 pickups now and none have ever had bed claims.

Just be sensible. If you wreck an alloy then expect to be charged. It’s no different than owning a car. If you wreck an alloy you’ll pay to sort it out.
