LED trailer lights

New trailer bought last year the indicators don't flash in the tractor to prove the trailer lights are working.
Older filament bulb trailer works fine. Flashes only if working
Surely this is unsafe as you don't know what the car behind can see

Our easterby is like that. Think they need some sort of restricting device to draw more current to make the flasher in the cab work.

Should be resistors fitted in the junction box between each indicator and earth to increase load on the circuit so tractor senses it and puts the light on. As its a new trailer make them put it right!

Our new AW has led lights and it registers the indicators are working in the tractor, think there are some resistors on the line. Our other trailers have led lights but no resistors so they dont register but led lights are very reliable and have never had a problem yet.

If I buy a new machine with road lighting I expect the manufacturer to fit a safe system.

I don't think I should be responsible for doing an aftermarket unproven bodge.

Where would I stand legally if involved in an rta??

The problem is that staff start to accept not seeing an indication in the cab.
If the lead comes out you are none the wiser.
If a conventional trailer light fails a farm worker may not appreciate there is a problem.

As the employer am I at fault for providing equipment with conflicting safety indications?

The problem is that too many modern tractors and cars don't recognise led lights and throw a giddy fit. Even with resistors fitted.

I asked at graham Edwards if they were fitting leds as standard yet. He replied we will when car manufacturers produce cars that are compatible.
There's clearly some issue with them.

Newer Landrover discoveries certainly will not play ball with led trailer lights.

My van has an led friendly towing module fitted but it still doesn't like certain led light types.

I'm rapidly going off led trailer lights, I fitted some expensive ones to my Hilux that I built and they have individual diodes failing.

I'm currently building up a flat trailer for myself, it's going to have a decent set of incandescent lights fitted....

eBay search led hamburger lights, I would put a link but can't work it out, remember buy cheap buy twice.
+1 fitted this for snaka and save putting light boards on silage trailers.
