Legally removing a hedge.

It there a way to legally remove a hedge? Two fields joined with a hedge that goes half way across and fence the other. Would like to remove to join the two fields together.

Would be happy to replace with a new hedge elsewhere, at twice the length etc.

Who do you need to speak to?

We took out a 100m or so in a similar situation. Planners accepted it, no objections despite being near a footpath.

We got pp to remove a hedge about 4 years ago no.problem. The hedge did make a small 3 cornered field on a steep bank that sloped both ways so was dangerous for turning machinery and what we based application on.

Circular saw head cut hard back and spray over years, claim low value environmentally and then in few years apply for planning to remove banks ,seems alleged tricks used around here and they get AWAY with it ???

If you stump a hedge off to rejuvenate it, are you legally obliged to protect the regrowth, or can the sheep escape and gnaw it down repeatedly?
