Morning all,

We're looking at purchasing a new Lely Rotonde to put two into one from out the back of our Splendimo 280MC.

Anyone here own one to give an honest review of whether they're really worth the £7000 (ex vat) asking price...

Thanks!

They're good, but struggle to move heavy wet grass untedded, especially on the headlands when its been driven over, tedded and wilted a bit , no problem, £7k? Crickey! Not much for ones cash these days!

We have got one makes a very good swath for round bales, always spread out and dry when we have used it. Not sure whether worth £7k though and maybe not as good on wet grass. Horses for courses would not be without ours.

Better buying a exdemo Fella twin rake or similar as it will be a far better tool.

Used to have one, made a nice row on anything like haylage but didn't do heavier, wetter crops very. The row could be lumpy and not very tidy. We use a small twin rotor Fella now which is much easier to use and set up.

I like how it folds two rows into one, putting them on to dry ground and drying out the underside. I could be wrong but with a twin rake you'd be taking on three bout's leaving the middle one untouched and with a single rotor you have to travel up every bout.

I have used one for many years. Pretty idiot proof. Seem expensive for what they are but in 10 years will still be worth 4k. Depreciation is certainly low. There is a technique to using them. They are excellent in most crops but will struggle now and then. Very little to go wrong or wear compared to a cam rake.
Corners require a bit of sense but easy enough.
Big heavy crops in haylage are where it comes into its own. Narrow it down to 4.5 metres and cruise along with the mini hesston.

We have a claas 2600 brilliant little rake, we follow or 8ft mowers and rake 3 rows together if not tedded. If you had 10ft mower you could easily rake two swaths onto fresh ground. First rake we had was nh 254 and stoll 410 which would rake two 8ft swaths onto clean dry ground just did a crap job. We then up graded to krone 421 single rotor which did a much cleaner job but one row on top of another then the claas 2600. Don't need better for our operation

Yeah the 2600 leaves a lovely row raking 3 8fts

Did you get a rake?

Nope! ..Dad wants a single, I want a twin rotor as I can't be doing with the faff of taking the arms on and off for each field, the Krone is the only machine that makes this look simple, but they seem to hold their money well. One of our local dealers has a JF Stoll single rotor rake that dad had a gander at, but I told him to avoid like the plague.
