Lely storm fuse tripping

Trying to run up our Storm after new blades and metal detector, supplied by @mengeleguru .
It runs for 5 seconds and then throws out the resettable fuse on the control/joystick panel.
Any clues where to look or what is likely to be causing the problem?

TIA

I have seen this before.

Sometimes the latching coils can’t pull in properly and if they don’t the coils can burn out.
So reasons.
1 The spindles of the latches that stop the shafts from spinning are sticking or seizing up.

2 The machine is still in drive to the header when it was switch off on the PTO, so when you start the pto on some modern tractors the pto spins a little, turns the flywheel a bit & wedges the teeth of the clutches & jams the latches of the stop dogs so the coils cannot pull the latches back.

Cure turn the flywheel back wards a bit and release the pressure on the latches.

Note, For heath and safety you should always put their header in neutral any.

3 The coils are not adjusted properly so the stroke of the coil cannot get to the bottoms of the barrel, It is pulled in by a strong electro magnetic field and when it gets to the bottom of the barrel it automatically switches to low current to hold it there.
If it cannot get there it either trips the overload or burns the coil out. ( Rather expensive)

Simple test. Just remove the pin from the yolk in the end of the coil see if the coil pulls in properly and if ok check adjustment and also tightness of the latches.

Gap between the pulled in latches and the clutch teeth should be approximately 3mm.

4 The over load button is getting weak.

Simple cure, Remove the lid of the box &r eplace it with a 40amp spade fuse. The spades on the wire fit straight on to the fuse.

5 One of the coils is faulty.

6 Some one has pulled the plug off the end of the power lead in the tractor & put the wires back in the wrong way around.

Note LIVE is BLUE 🙈

Hope this helps a bit 👍

Took pick up off this morning.
Took solenoids off and checked rods, all clean as a whistle and moving freely.
Activated off machine and all good .
Latches moving fine but did lube up.
Put back together and all worked fine.
Just have pick up to put back on and retest. Not found a fault worryingly!

You can get it out by taking a couple of paddles off and sliding it out around the barrel over the top of the disc and out.

or remove the shear bar.

Last one I did the other day I slid it to the central point at the bottom and cut it in half with the gas.

Fell out of the rear hole then.

If you can’t undo the bolts because they spin tack them to the old liner with the welder 🙈

If you take the shear bar out please give it a good clean underneath it
