Lely storm metal detector

Hi, we were having bother with the metal detector on a lely storm 130 at the end of last year, can't remember exactly what it was doing but would basically be going fine then would click out like it had picked something up and you couldn't get it to drive again. We've run it up the other day and it's going just now but it's bound to do it again when we actually use it. Is there a way of disabling the metal detector? We're only doing our own grass and this is the first chopper we've had with a detector so would be happy to risk not having the detector there to get the chopper going.
Thanks

What chopper did you have before?

Flywheel machines don't tolerate metal as well as drum machines do but if you are used to flywheel and its just a newer version I can see why you're not bothered about the metal detector.

We have had the exact problem this year. The metal detector can be disconnected. Underneath on the side nearest the drawbar by the metal detector roller is a square plug. @mengeleguru will test the detector for you but suggests the bearing on that end may be going.

I've had a couple of sh40's, 1 of which I still have as a backup. I like to have a spare in the shed ready to go if needed. Before the sh40's was a claas 75 for a couple of years and before it a pair of claas 61's so nothing fancy. Long term I'll try and get to the bottom of the metal detector problem, just with it being unpredictable, be good to have the option to disconnect it and get on when it plays up. Thanks

Thanks for the reply, I'll have a look for the plug, hopefully get the problem sorted out properly, just to have the option when it plays up and we're needing to get on. Thanks

Anyone know who would be able to help us fix the problem with the detector? I'm in the Scottish Borders but don't really know who round about would know anything about them. Thanks
