Baling silage and clover this morning (about 30% dry matter wilted young grass, purely leaf).

I timed the back door on my comprima 150xc.

Net cut beeper, open door, eject bale, closed door beeper as you set off into the swath takes 7 seconds.

At maximum pressure and smallest core size, it was making a bale in under 50 seconds, and that was applying 3turns of net.

I'll attempt to upload a video later and get a bale weighed on a neighbours keenan. They're bloody heavy though. The McHale wrapper is lifting the near side wheel loading the bales onto the table

Thanks I have a 160v and was wondering if it was the wind that caused the net to wrap around the rubber feed roller now and again.
Got 2 of them , very good machines,1 has 28000 bales on and other is coming up to 10000 bales on very little trouble with them.need a bit of tarpaulin over the gap between the netter and the belts to stop heavy winds interfering with net
Does either of yours have the floating wind guard forks.

Was this an f155 or a v150?

The f155 is a semi variable that has a relatively soft centre like a roller baler.

The v150 is presumably what you tried? Did you set the core density to its maximum by adjusting the stop each side?

I bought a krone v150 primarily because it could put so much in a bale. The core density setting does make a big difference.

I agree about the back door time. There must be a restrictor in the line because it seems horribly slow to close, and I've mine plumbed into the tractor free flow return, not through the spool. Opening is fast with 120l/min pump though.
Yes v150 xtreme. And the soft core setting was at the smallest, which is another thing that let's it down. Having to get out with a spanner to adjust that when it can all be done off the box on the welger. Made a good even bake in silage no matter what the grass conditions but couldn't hold a light to the welger for output or weight on straw.

Hillbill does your welger have the floating fork design on the wind guard.

Interesting

Krone comprima currently holds the world record for the faster baler, and last year the 1.25m diameter spring barley straw bales that I bought made from a v150 were between 240 and 280kg, at less than 20% moisture. The contractor admitted he hadn't screwed it right up, and it was in the medium core density setting.

Did Donald from krone set up the demo baler for you?

No one came to set the baler up. I just took it out of the yard as I knew the basics having run a comprima for a season in 2012. I am not saying I got the best out of it, but thought there wasn't a lot more I could do to improve it. The chap we were baling for questioned the bale weights as he said there wasn't anything like as much in them as the welger. For me, that was enough to be put off.
