Looks like rotational grazing with a "plan" based on past grazing history

Pity no 2 seasons are the same

Hi betweenthelines -- you're right, no two seasons are the same. It's easier to recover from the unexpected if you already have a plan. Here is a blog I wrote about a farmer who ran out of grass last summer.

Plans are nothing. Planning is everything.
“Having a grazing plan meant I didn’t panic when I ran out of grass in July”, said Jonathan, who began holistic planned grazing this past summer.

I would be interested if something were to come up in yorkshire - Im based near Otley/Wharfedale and can comfortably travel an hour.
Hi Coximus,

We do have training coming up in your neck of the woods.

In June we're doing both a 3-day and a 9-day programme in Barnard Castle, County Durham. Here are links. You can purchase directly on Farm Marketplace with a discount there. Alternatively, we offer training on your farm.

I'd be happy to speak by telephone to answer your questions. You can ring me on 07446 780081.

All the best,
Sheila

After seeing this thread a few weeks ago, I thought I would mention that we have completed the holistic management + holistic grazing course run by 3LM.
@Sheila Cooke and Christopher did an excellent job of teaching. Without doubt, both myself and the other students learned an incredible amount with regard to farm management, grazing and most importantly learned about ourselves.
I certainly recommend the 3LM course to any person, farmer or landowner who wants to take a break from the treadmill of modern farming and refocus on how they farm.

The course is challenging - each day we were all very mentally drained. But at the end of the week, I walked away with new knowledge, a detailed grazing plan outlining the location of every days grazing for every cow on our farm for 12 months. Most importantly I am returning to farm with new energy and focus.

If you attend this course, you will need an open mind.

@Sheila Cooke many thanks for a great week.
