This country imports far more from Europe than Europe imports from us.
Do people actually believe they will not want to trade with us.
Some. They are usually those who while being their own men, successful business men, actors etc who enjoy the privilege of falling or rising due to the decisions they make, feel that the UK plc should not enjoy the same choice, and that all decisions appertaining to the Uk are best made by another country, or group of countries! Many of whom are commercial competitors.

The rotten in/out campaigns are really overshadowing the reality. How can one man (especially a German) make such a statement ?

Has he decided this is the case for the UK, has a committee decided, the EU Courts ? Who ??

Imagine when a really right wing crowd get the EU reigns (which Mrs Merkal's immigration policy will drive) We must begin to see how this can really have an effect on us as future EU clones..

So, if I read that correctly (and I understand that he's one old man in Germany with an opinion, not the one who's going to be making the rules), he doesn't want us to leave, and if we don't then the EU will carry on as before.
But if we do leave, then there will be a change of direction "because they'll learn from the vote" to a situation that we wouldn't want to leave. Even though we already would have!

Can't see what your problem is, the guy is saying "If you don't pay, you don't play" Why should the German's and the French always carry the burden of financing the EU?

Well a tit for tat agreement would mean that we would be the winner as we import 3 times more than we export :). Win win (y).
hardly it would make the things we buy from them more expensive and the things we sell to them more uncompetitive
so in other words they won't want your sheep as they are to dear and you won't be able to afford your new vent tractor as it is to dear, defiantly to dear as you haven't sold your sheep

Who gets the money from tariffs ?

If it was a trading block as was the initial intention it wouldn't need financing would it?
Course it would. As a pure trading block folk would be complaining about industries in other counties having unfair advantages and forcing theirs out of business due to subsides, labour laws, H&S, etc. The EU is supposed to limit and control this. Which it does.

In other words, they wouldn't do it as they would lose too much trade:facepalm:. You're paying to much attention to a very old man with little influence where the likes of Mercedes, BMW and VW are concerned.

“If the majority in Britain opts for Brexit, that would be a decision against the single market. In is in. Out is out. One has to respect the sovereignty of the British people.”

We want to be part of the single market, (what the common market was for) we do not want Federalisation.............

It's not a matter of tariffs as such.
It's more a standards issue which will be the problem.
Brexiters expect that rules and regulations around food production won't apply to them in the same way as they apply in the EU.
Brexit contributors on here strongly promote protectionism with regards to farm produce. British product on British shelves.
Brexit promoters on here expect to have all pesticides available to them as before even though the EU is rapidly tightening up in this area.

A two way stop on trade will happen by default. British food will no longer be exportable to the EU due to standards disparity with EU regulations.
EU food will no longer be able to compete in Britain due to higher standards and cost of production.

The new farming Nirvana in UK will usher in a golden era for its farmers.

No effective competition from Europe at least and minimal regulation and restriction on production systems at home. All topped up with that cheque in the post from London which BoJo et all have promised. What's there not to like about it! Vote OUT[emoji57]
