Letter Re Methane, Western Daily Press

Yes - He should know that CO2 was nearly 20 times higher than today, in the Cambrian period and that led to the greatest expansion of plant and animal life in the history of the Earth.
What?
Are you sure?
The planet is facing a climate emergency don’t you know and carbon is the problem.

If CO2 had been 20 times higher in the past surely the planet would have exploded or everything would have died !

Ah...professor Bruce. a man who has been stuck at Exeter since he was a student (which I'm told by academic folk is...er.....the opposite of someone whose been headhunted)
He takes great exception to a very erudite column published in the Western Morning News and writes letters condemning the illustrious author.
I'm sure the said author will be tickled to know Bruce then also writes to other newspapers correcting articles readers would have no knowledge of.
(he really must be a bit weird)

At the last exchange, the columnist happily tore holes in Brucey for a week or two's exchange, all the while being paid to do so.
He and the Editor (so I understand) agreed it would become boring, and moved the narrative along at their leisure.
In the meantime, Bruce had got his frillies in such a twist that he was soon trying to claim that you couldn't compare methane from domestic ruminants with that from 'free roaming' wild ones (when faced with the 'pre-Columbian buffalo' argument).
It was quite good fun watching a pompous lifelong academic being chewed up so by a straw chewing hick.

Notably, the Uni where he's seemingly now some kind of semi-retired honorary big wig, are much involved in 'natural solutions', rewilding/rewetting, beaver hugging, badger beatifying and the like.
I daresay the aforementioned columnist's opinions about such fairy dust garbage have irritated him before.

Crack on @Lazy Sod , write in to point out his shortcomings (happy to help if you want)

PS but don't let CJ et al persuade you to try and say 'there's no such thing as global warming' .....you're out of the game the moment you suggest that.
Evening @C.J . Hope you're well.

Good evening to you - Global warming is so passe....don't you know it ended in 2016 ?

Here's a good story for you - you might like to research it

I'm sure you remember a competition back along to name a polar research vessel , and Boaty Mc Boatface was the most popular suggestion. However it was named the Sir David Attenborough because it was a Hybrid Electric and therefore very woke.

Well this week it's been in the Antarctic ,because its summer down there , and was due to make a delivery . However it couldn't deliver because there was too much Ice - apparantly its puny engines can only manage about a meter of ice.

What me guv? I don't think so. Apart from wanting to bring this letter to the attention of forum members, I think that it needs someone with more specialist technical knowledge, qualifications and, quite frankly, gravitas than yours truly with only 4 O levels, a lapsed pilots licence and 4 competance certificates to my name. I'm still studying at the University of Life, but unfortunately, will not live long enough to sit the examinations.
