An e croitear a th’annaibh?

Wife and I are heading up to Lewis and Harris next week, possibly via the Portree calf sales if she can be persuaded to ‘pop in for a cuppa…just for a look’.

Is there anything we should see crofting wise? We are staying on the west side of Lewis. Peat cutting? Guga cookups? Livestock sales? Tweed making? Psalm singing?
Any opportunity to use my very rusty Gàidhlig would be welcome!
Tapadh leibh.

List is endless. Callanish stones, Blackhouses, Nesslighthouse, Beaches all the way down west coast of Harris, but Luskentyre the jewel in the crown, worth taking the drive out past Amshuide? House in Harris to the beach at the end of the road.

Mrs Bob and I honeymooned on Harris in October. Weather was stunning countryside was beautifu.

Portree mart in Skye well worth the look for the calve sales on the way up.

Very jealous

Cracking place if you get the weather.
As said the beaches on west of Harris are something to behold. Some of the small coastal hills give you commanding views and if you are game for Clisham, avoiding the midge take the binos.
Seafood is well good and Scarista house is cracking.

Great afternoon at the Portree suckled calf sales. Some very strong prices being achieved. And they say these out of town markets have no character…

Good to catch up with fellow TFFers @Macsky and @Top Tip as well as a few other very friendly locals. Just about managed to refrain from bidding on anything, much to my wife’s relief!
