I had a few 272,s
Take the seat out and the steering wheel colum and the stuff that the steering wheels connected to.
Take the top off the cast housing and it’s all there
Might need the cab off, might not

I remember the mechanic doing a clutch and it all came out in one piece up and out, no need to split.

I remember him attaching clips to keep it all compressed though because there really isn’t a lot of room

There are “Haynes” type manuals online for key lands, I have one somewhere so that might be worth buying

no you don't split them.

un bolt the top cover casting and with an engine crane it will lift straight out the door complete with all the dash etc on it.

Steering pipes to come off and some wires etc of cause, and possibly steering wheel.

its a double clutch in them and not straight forward if you never done one before. lots of bits that wear and cause issues. Charnleys will be good for all them parts and possibly even competitive on a new clutch?

Dads a bit of an old pro on these now! had his clutch out of his 482 half dozen times! think its finally sorted now.

Last time he had it out just before Christmas, it was the key on the fork that pushes the release bearing which had sheared, shaft was damaged too so found another good shaft etc but cab floor was in the way of sliding it out and didn't want to lift the cab making more work so he cut a section out and welded it back in after:ROFLMAO:

As been said, dash out, (in my younger more foolish days i used to lift this up onto the seat), cast cover off and exposes the clutch and connection shafts. Lots of bits to undo on the coupling, pull the shaft back out of the flywheel and lift out clutch. From memory you need to have some of the clips that the new clutch is held compressed with to be able to hold the old one compressed when you come to unbolt it. If not there's not enough room to get the assembly out.
It's not too bad a job, just take your time and work logically.
