Hi having troubling with my leyland 255 lift the lift lock is broke and also stuck and I was wondering if it is possible to get it unreleased without taking the lift top off?

Maybe? have you tried to take the nut off, to take the cap off? then the bushing has two flats and it could unscrew if it's made of cast iron, if the bushing is pot metal it will be corroded permanently in place and strip out before turning.

not that hard to take the cover off either though. What's broke on the lock? what have you tried to free it up and what position is it in?

I can't remember which way the lock comes out, but you need to get the lift arm out of the way first. Try tapping the lift arm up to get the lock pin to move. If it hits the cover, then you might try a small pry bar to get between the lift arm and the lock pin to pry it up. Once you get the lift arm out of the way, it should be straightforward to see which way to drive the lock pin. I believe it will go either way at this point.
