Hi everyone.

I'm considering upgrading my Bateman HiLo to 6 sections from 4. Plumbing, pnuematics and electrics within the machine will be quite straight forward, but the sticking point is getting the LH5000 rate controller to recognise the extra sections.

The menu within the controller has options to add up to 9 sections, but there doesn't seem to be any wires within the loom to connect a feed from the sections. I have spoken to Bateman who whilst very supportive and helpful have been unable to find any information in their archives on my early 2 box type controller (the machine is an early 1992 HiLo 2001). LH Agro have drawn a similar blank and say the unit may only be capable of 4 sections.

Has anyone on here successfully upgraded their LH or have a copy of a wiring diagram so I can investigate my own unit a bit further. I've dabbled in electronics in the distant past, so I'm quite confident with the idea opening up the unit and modifying it but not without a manual or guidance - especially on a machine that is about to start it's busy season.

it's been a long time since messing with LH5000, but still run 2 units on spreaders. you should be able to do 12 sections in total. Assuming you have a boom interface box which is black and has 2 rocket switches on it, auto/manual and dose up/ dose down, which plugs into the system A plug, there will be unused wires in the large soft conduit coming from that box. Most will be in use for flow meter, pressure regulator and your existing boom valves etc. The boom section wires are mostly banded colours. To check their operation go into the menu on the LH5000-system- input-2nd and 3rd page (next) will show boom status hi/lo and the number of times it has been switched (powered). Powering a boom section wire (banded colour) with 12v will show on the system input screen against the boom section number. or another input Sequence boom sections left to right 1-6 You will then have to set up the section widths for each section. Option is to pair the wires so that they show 2 sections on the box and halve the width of each section in setup. this gives a fuller screen of active sections when spraying.
