Lichfield and district ploughing match

I used to worry about some of the quirky rules that were particular to a region but more often than not, we all ploughed as normal and the judges seem to judge as they would at other matches.
I take your point Colin and nine times out of ten you get away with it because the organisers realise their limitations and go with the flow but in this case there are alternative venues for me where the rules simply state SOP will apply. It is a great shame because it is a friendly crowd but they do loony things like having 25 metre wide by 80metres long plots and everybody is flying round the headland at dangerous speed because the time limit after splits is three hours. Why do they pretend to know what they are doing rather than enlisting help from someone who does?

Those plots are larger than the ones in world style! What the competitors should do, is plough at normal speeds, but all wait until the last man is ready, then finish together! That will cause havoc, and perhaps the "organisers " will have a rethink!

No time for organising a stunt like that !

Lichfield match is next Sunday, nice site just off the A51 Tamworth road.
For some inexplicable reason our Classic entries are well down at present although all the other classes are well supported, we only have 3 for World style so far so if you would like to plough with us please ring our secretary Val on 01543-372813. All entries welcome we have plenty of room !

Thanks for the info Roy, pity you won't be with us, we may have some late entries if the weather forecast for the week is right and people catch up with the work a bit !

Good to see the no handling rules upheld at today's Lichfield match. Notices were displayed saying no verbal warnings would be given. First offence a yellow card placed on your plot number. Second offence a red card would be placed on your peg resulting in disqualification.
I did not see any handling myself but was told a few yellow cards were handed out.
Congratulations to Lichfield for their lead and hopefully all match organisers will follow them.

At our match on Friday and Saturday we had yellow and red flags, yellow for warning and red for penalty points, only 1 yellow flag was put in a plot on Friday morning, this stopped all handling from then on,
Was at a match yesterday and no stewards, others were handling, so when in Rome

Judging of European reversible class this year was a disgrace, went and looked at site on monday, what a joke, apparently same judges are at stone on Sunday, when will staffordshire districts learn to get good judges, then you get good numbers of entries
