Ive seen it happen to 3 ewes ,they were laid close together in the middle of the field ,,ground was wet ,it hit one and traveled through the other two ,killed them out right and the only clue was a crusty burn mark down their backs ,,boss couldn't work out what it was untill he took one for an autopsy
I've had it twice with ewes ---i think 12 one time and 4 the next
Also saw a feedlot in Colorado with about 60 steers laid out like dominoes along a feedline, they had just been fed when lightning struck
I remember my father telling me about a line of police horses tethered in stalls by chains along a metal rail and the whole lot were killed by lightning.
We lost 11 milkers in 1996 due to lightening strikes the cattle were sheltering under trees at the time you could see they had tried running away but just dropped metres from the tree. Brought many tears that morning.
