Lime on top of sowed beans?

Would it be ok to spread ground limestone on top of freshly sowed beans. Contractor was late coming to spread yesterday. So I would have to spread it on top of the ground now and not incorporate it. Or not spread it at all. Can spread it today. Also need to spray pre emerge on as well.

The lime itself and the way it works will be fine.

The only issue I’ve had is that beans don’t like compaction. The wheelings could be seen for a while, but I think the crop evened out eventually.

A customer chanced it once on a -11 degree frost, which I thought was a bit mad but he persuaded me. It was fine and better than doing it on soft ground.

Lots of crops are resilient to a wheeling and damage to leaf from tyres, but beans definitely don’t like compaction.

We spread it just before the sprayer man. And put on a bit lighter than planned. At 1.5 ton an acre. Spread it with small loads to reduce compaction. Hopefully will be ok
