They're a pain in the a#s to spread with. As said above hydraulics can keep running when turning. Buy one and after a couple of loads you'll wish you hadn't !

Wide angle pto ? Vast quantities lime was spread on the hills of Wales in the past with pto driven Atkinsons . Think shaft drive was the least problem. Local contractor has a big old Bredal, spreads great.

I would go for a Bredal as an old well used spreader over any others. No hydraulic motors to brake down and contaminate the tractor , and no gearboxes on the spreader discs, just a twisted belt between pulleys, yet they have ground drive meetering off the wheel.

We have a 1970 bredal an pto driven we've never ever broke a uj or stub on her or tractor in all my days of having her. Turns rite round with her going if wanted to never a problem , mind the belts don't slip off the back though Bec there a proper cod to get back in correctly lol here's a twist in them at the back an secret is to not tighten to tight hope this helps
