Lime Spreaders

Its a nightmare trying to get a contractor to spread lime around my area as everyone wants them at the same time and you could be in a waiting queue up to 6-8weeks. Not so good when reseeding.

Been keeping an eye out for a reasonable priced spreader. 3.5 /5-6 tonne spreader.

Know very little about them but a local dealer just got an Agri-Spread AS55 in. Looks in excellent condition but that’s just me looking at it.

It’s 2015 and they are looking £6300. I notice it has a chain instead of a belt. What do you guys think of the chain? Can it be easily fixed or replaced or are they a disaster in the long run?

I thought it would have costed a lot more but thinking the chain has something to do with the price?

does anyybody know how variable rate lime spreader works? Does it adjust rear door opening, belt speed or maybe both? Just wonder if mechanical spreader can be upgraded to spread variable rate

That works as long as its not a land wheel driven floor belt.
We use our own Bredal B48 which I restored from near scrap condition. Won't say who sold it me, but it was one of those lessons that taught me never to buy without looking at the machine yourself from certain lime spreader dealers.
Works a treat now. PTO driven belt so behind the DB1494 hydrashift you have on the move variable rate without adjusting anything on the spreader. Fantastico.
