They ended up digging a lagoon for all that water as it used to overflow and go down the ditches ,,they made a slurry injector to get rid of it but there was more than they could deal with so it got put through the irigator on stubbles, sugar beet and spuds ,,if the wind was wrong for the village the stench was awfull

Hi all, I am just thinking of moving to the area and wondering if all the concerns about the rendering site been sold and under new management are ture as don’t want to move if the site wouldn’t be run correctly but someone told me that it was sold for 8 mil and surely that means they will run it correctly?

I think it is possibly a case of:

1) Build houses near industrial plant.
2) Move to houses in full knowledge that industrial plant is there.
3) Think that by banding together and making a fuss that they can shut down long-established business.
4) Believe that will raise their house prices.
5) WIN.

Google for "Nimby Bingo" and you will see what I mean. Modern, and even older, industrial plants have stringent rules on their operation - if you break the rules you get fined. I suggest anyone buying or moving to any area actually goes and visits for themselves before moving rather than listen to hearsay.

I would think the environmental restrictions on industrial scale rendering are enormous, with frequent checks, visits and audits by every man and his dog.

Their environmental impact assessments paperwork must be endless.

I would have every confidence that they are operating 'correctly'.

Jerusalem road that runs past the plant used be the worst place to live when the wind was in the wrong direction.
Alot of outsiders moved into Skellingthorpe that didnt know about the plant so everyday the complaints calls to the council was a mile long
Back in its day there was a permanent blue cloud hanging around it before they were forced to spend millions of ££ on it to clean it up .
I used to work on the farm land around it .
You kept you windows closed all day .
Few year since Ive been round by the plant but it didnt get the knick name Smelly Skelly for nothing
