Link belt for fan belt

My Ford 550 digger seized it's alternator and also fried the fan belt, the alternator is not a problem but the fan belt is a pain because you have to dissconect the hydraulic pump drive, so I am thinking of putting a link belt on with the obvious advantage when fitting. Has anyone experience of using the link belts.

I have used link belts without a problem on a digger and an old Fiat tractor with a crank mounted pump because of the hassle fitting a new belt. Some people fit two belts over the crank drive shaft and tie one out of the way for future use but often by the time you need them they are covered in oil and not worth fitting.
