Linseed nitrogen

My linseed has had 275kgs Double top ( approx 70kgN) at drilling. This was much more than the recommended quantity at that timing but in hindsight I’m glad as the only rain it had since it’s May 7th drilling date was in its first 3 weeks growth.
RB 209 suggests it only needs 70-80 kg N but current thinking seems to be 100-120. I was planning to put more on at green bud but as it’s so dry and I only have granular, I can’t see the point.
Will I just have grown a thick crop of linseed straw?

Mines had the 100kg.
Roughly split 50:50, half at drilling as liquid, half a week later as urea.
Never get enough moisture this time of year to wash it in so I decided to put it on early.
Wasn't drilled till 8th May though , it's flying along now, I am hoping for a decent crop, but have not grown it before so might end up with more straw than you!!

I’ve always followed the Premium Crops method of 30kg N in the seedbed and another 70 kg at green bud but this method is useless if there’s no rain to wash it in. I’m very glad all my N on spring crops went on early.
100kg minimum, 120-130kg is a tad better! all on early not particularly at drilling just monitor and adjust !

Don’t put any more than 80-90 here. Don’t see the point. I would spend money on other elements to improve N utilisation. With the strange weather this spring our spring crops are coming up with strange tissue results. Our linseed is short of Boron, Mo and Mag. All important for getting nutrient into the plant and around. N has come back high. If you want a little more N put a foliar on. I would have thought broadcast N would be a waste of money. A good foliar application could be done for under £10/ha.

I’m not set up for liquid N. Sprayer pump and nozzles not up to those volumes, or did you mean something low dose? What sort of product do you mean?

Premium crops insist that N doesn't translocate to seed if taken up early into plant. Also linseed very good at finding N in soil (probably rooting at greater depths?) got a strip with no fert, plus one with no late fert, so will be interesting to see yield differences
