That’s just a reflection from inside the aircraft! If you look at the dark field of wheat on the left you can also see my leather watch strap! I wondered what that was myself before I realised!
Did you bother desiccating that? Doesn’t look like it.I’d grown spring linseed before, and had several disasters with that, so was reluctant to try winter.
However, it’s a totally different crop. Very easy to establish, and there is good support from Premium Crops etc with agronomy.
Total N is about 150 kgs, and apart from a couple of fungicides and a PGR, there’s nothing really to do except for weed control.
Combining was a doddle. The trick is to cut it when the seed is <9% but the stems are green. If you wait a fortnight more, the stems can apparently ‘ret’ and be much tougher. It was so easy to cut though.
It must have been very green when you did that. Always cut mine later than you have with browner stemsYep, I used Glyphosate about 15 days pre-harvest.
Very interested, thanksSome more photos in case you’re interested.

With the Claydon?Establishment was straight into wheat stubble. Zero till. Ring rolls behind,
and Avadex between drilling and rolling.

The spring linseed grown near here was a write-off, pigeons and lack of moisture.
We might get treated to some photos of something at last!!ours is looking like crop of the year here this time

Ha.
Haven't seen any of the "good as dead" wheat....perhaps a Lazarusesque return from the dead?
In my opinion, it depends if crop is variable in maturity or has late emerged weed. If like most crops it is variable/ weeds are present, desiccation will help even up the crop and control any weeds present. Up to you at the end of the dayWe have 200 acres of Spring Linseed this year which in fairness looks really good, question is do we desiccate or not as there are many conflicting views on the subject , our agronomist suggests we do but having not grown it for 20 years I do wonder as its going off nicely at the moment ,
