Started cutting spring linseed for a customer today, I’ve never cut any before and it’s the customer’s first time growing it. In my opinion I’m struggling to get a clean sample and the returns is full! Anyone care to share there settings? Lexion 560. Thanks

You need a tight concave, high drum speed and tight bottom sieve. Even then you may still get full seed heads in the sample.

Very hard to get a clean sample and not blow it out the back of the combine. I've excepted a worse sample than i would like but it will get a spin in a mobile dryer and I'll see what i can blow out then.

Watched a youtube video of linseed combining a couple weeks back that claimed that it can achieve as good a gross margin as winter wheat. Is that for real?

Depends on how bad you winter wheat is and how good your linseed is I suppose.
Haha yeah. It was probably some sort of sales pitch, the word "can" meaning "nearly always won't but might just one year in 20" :ROFLMAO:
This is Nix (2016)'s figures for linseed, interested if this reflects people's experience? (last grown here when I was still at school)

Depends on how much you spend to get what you get!

Direct drilled spring linseed, modest weed control and some fungicide can be pretty cheap though much depends on the weather you get in season to ensure you get the yield.

Combining it can be interesting but a stripper header can alleviate that.

If you have to buy in new seed, then not. But 1+t/AC with fss, drilled into stubbles, urea in seedbed, blw spray, splash of teb, and some roundup - it needs to be cheap to grow.
