Liquid sludge application on winter cereals

Good evening all
I have been given the option to take in liquid sludge and/or AD digestate. I have winter barley only and am thinking of getting it applied on the crop. I have the option of either spreading it myself conventionally with a vacuum tanker or getting it applied via a band spreader by a contractor which will increase the cost. I could probably apply it myself Saturday or Sunday and can get contractor Monday. My only worry is I see there is a heavy hard frost forecast from Wednesday on. My question is could a hard frost cause a burning or scorching effect to the crop ?

both are npot the best a dribble bar on crops is the best, but it is way to early in the year to put that on a crop yet

Increase the cost?

Get it applied for free here. I won't be putting anything on here for a month.

What application rate you putting on at I thought you was a spring crop man up there ?? Into seed bed or onto crop
Yeah mainly spring barley your correct.

Going to put some on winter barley and some grass I'm going to cut for silage.

Getting fibre now too which I'm going to put on grass.

It's my first year using it so time will tell if its worthwhile.

Putting on 30t/ha liquid, that takes me up to Nmax 250kg/ha. Obviously won't all be available though.

I'm applying some onto ploughed ground too in front of drill. It's all pressed so reasonably level and will just work incorporate it with drill when sowing spring barley.

Was going to apply to stubble and plough it in, but that's never happened.

I wouldn’t put that much volume on in one application
Is the n 8 kgs that could burn grass at that volume and flatten your barley

What’s the fiber your thinking of applying??

Its just the solid part that comes out of ad plant after everything's been through. I should getting a up to date analysis tomorrow. I'll forward to it to you if I get it.

Looks like a decent source of available P&K. It's much more available than N for some reason. P 60% and K 90%.

I've discussed application rates with my agronomist and he's seen analysis. He's quite happy. He's worked with other farmers that use it and is confident he can keep it standing and will grow a worthwhile crop.

Not much in the fiber at all , liquid is best and it wants to go on to a crop that is growing ,put on at the moment and you have and it will not do much good ,crops are not growing at the moment in our area

It’s a good product just be carful with it I known of digestate coming out of one plant that will burn grass if no application and rate is not thought about
If it’s a food waste plant check out that fiber for plastics I can see a problem arising if something not done about it with what’s going on in the sea at the moment
