Just reading this thread and wondered what is considered a high dosage compared to what is written on data sheet?

I have not had this before but noticed distinct strange/different behaviour in a small group of lambs which I had housed to finish. From yesterday night they are acting strange - headbutting things, going off in the corners and leaning against things, twitching and flicking their heads like they would do in the summer with head flies? Other than that alright in themselves. Would this fit with this disease - only thing I have found so far? These few are ram lambs on lamb finisher pellets ad-lib and have the pick of a bit of hay.

Is the hay fusty?

Are they eating ok? Can they see alright and are any ears drooping? It was warm enough here for gnats which can make them twitchy.

Will double check sight and ears tomorrow morning first thing but had not noticed anything unusual at all in that respect. Hay - the possibility there could have been the odd fusty bit? I gather listeriosis is more common in silage and is soil bourne but could also be from bad hay/soil in hay/damp etc so worst case scenario this would be it? I'm hoping it is something just annoying them but at the same time don't want to ignore it if there is more of an underlying problem that could be caught early.

Have they just come in and had a sudden change of diet? If they have, it could be CCN. If it is, you'll know in the morning, as some of them may be flaked out with their heads thrown back.

they have been in a little while now and are well adjusted to the diet built up very gradually. I'm hoping nothing to worry about. Very odd though.

This sounds more like some kind of biting insect, lice perhaps. We get a problem with it from time to time with housed ewes. Tends to happen more often on a sunny day, even in the depths of winter.
