Live bull dead according to CTS

Why would a bull come up as being dead on CTS?
Briefly, a non farming friend works for somebody that amongst their many business interests has a large estate. They recently sold their pedigree heard, the 3 breeding bulls went to the same buyer however one has come back as being dead!
What legitimate and illegitimate reasons would cause that situation to occur?

Should not be a problem, call them and explain the situation and they will update the animals history.

Might be a genuine mistake.... CTS aint perfect....:banghead::bag:

CTS is actually a very good system and farmer friendly!

If you know what is in the pipeline which the NFU/AHDB are pushing to be introduced asap you may well look back on CTS with very fond memories.

For example the NFU are pushing for cattle the same system as there is for pigs currently which is you have to prior notify the movements on a central database..............

Oh and put all the animals med history online in real terms and COP figures ( using the same database as movements ) so they can give these to the supermarkets....

Our slaughter house has forgotten to register movement on and slaughter a few times.

I bought a bunch of weaned Fri steers from a farm a few years ago, the seller had also had a lot of poor Fri bulls given the bullet on farm the same day as the ones i bought moved holdings,,,, his wife somehow managed to update CTS that the Fri steers had all been shot and the Fri bulls had moved off the holding alive and well!

Did my herd's TB test last week and found one cow that wasn't on the vet's list. She was there standing in front of us but she was not in my herd management software or the CTS database. Checked my management software and movement book and passports and she was not in the movement book [we keep as a duplicate to the management software] and we did have her passport.

My software and CTS had her listed as sold with a batch of barrens sent on the 12th Dec last year, or a couple of months ago from now. That is down to one reason and one reason only. I made a bóllòcks of it! I must have, for some peculiar reason, put her brand number among a batch of barrens.

One of the easiest issues ever to resolve, since I still had her passport. A quick phone call to CTS had her movement off holding cancelled and a quick look at management program help files had her back in the herd records. Took all of five minutes to resolve. CTS lady said that it was quite a common mistake to make. This and registering calves as the wrong gender are apparently the most common, but this one is by far the easiest to resolve. By the time of the TB readings, she was back on the CTS database.

As an aside, I realised that my oldest milking cow has her twelfth birthday next month but has slipped one lactation to only have 9 recorded. She doesn't look her age either and would pass for a fifth lactation cow easily.

What is your agenda?? because unless you know something you are not telling us then there is no reason to say the above!!

No agenda.
My friend says they suspect the stockman may be hiding something due to his strange behaviour when discussing the passports, movements etc. He was given notice and a decent pay off, the cattle have been sold for business reasons, nothing else.
No witch hunt just trying to cover all eventualities, hence asking if their could be any not so honest possibilities.
He will be phoning cts tomorrow.

This is the reason for double entry.
BCMS could look and see that that animal hasn't moved onto another holding or been slaughtered.

Have always found the BCMS staff very helpful.

Why would you register and pay to tag a bunch of fri bulls you were going to dispose of on farm?

Weird
