Live music events .

I’ve been going to watch live music for a number of years 🙄 & still do , two of my personal favourites were seeing Texas at a small venue in York not long ago & Fleetwood Mac at Leeds Arena a few years ago , there’s nothing better than being in an audience at a concert . Anyone else care to share their concert highlights ?

There is nothing like seeing a live band!
Saw Steve Hackett (Genesis guitar player) do a Genesis revival concert in Oxford last October.
Better than the original Genesis!!
Nad Silvan is the perfect replacement for Peter Gabriel.
Most of the audience were at least 60 years old. But a few youngsters enjoying it just as much as the rest of us.
One of the best live concerts I have ever seen.
The highlight, was a rendition of Supper’s Ready. At a certain moment, virtually the entire audience shouted “A flower?”
I’ve been addicted to all the Steve Hackett videos on YouTube ever since.
“A flower?” At 11.28

Red Hot Chili Peppers were playing Slaines Castle when was on a trip to Dublin with friend. But being farmer chaps we decided to go drinking in some rural dump instead and I gave myself borderline alcohol poisoning drinking vodka and neat ribena 🙄🤦‍♂️

they were also playing to a non capacity crowd a yr later in Christchurch NZ when was there on a night out, but again we elected to go drinking instead of buying tickets at the door for $20. 🤔

Did eventually see them live a couple of yr later at Murrayfield, but Slaines would’ve been the better concert. Had stopped really drinking alcohol by then. Improved decision making being a side effect. 🤣

Seen oasis, muse, kings of Leon in Aberdeen. Ac/dc in Glasgow. And a few smaller gigs like Kt tunstall and flogging molly.
I love oasis and AC/DC but Muse put on an unbelievable show!

What a really good thread! Getting away from the farm and doing something completely different such as going to a live music gig is something I really enjoy.
I’m very fortunate to be 3 villages away from where Alex James (Blur) holds his annual Big Feastival at Kingham, on his farm. Unfortunately it often clashes with Harvest, but if somebody I really want to see is playing, I try to go at least one of the 3 days.
The last time I went in 2019, Elbow were the star band on the Sunday (last) night. Lead singer Guy Garvey likes to get everybody singing and makes us practice a few bars, before launching into the song itself.
When he played One day like this, I’m surprised you couldn’t hear us us all singing where you live @YorkshireAndrew !
This was actual 10 years earlier

You also get a chance to see other groups that your thought were ok, but maybe not that special, only to realise that they are in fact very good.
One that comes to mind is Frank Savoretti who I’d seen do Candlelight on the Graham Norton show, thinking it was a bit Radio 2ish(!). But he did this at Feastival and changed my mind as to how good he really is:

Mumford and sons a good few years ago now, it was at a mini festival just outside of Huddersfield, love to see a band when there on the up, they toured America after that and they become bigger and only seem to play arenas, same with kasabian at Brid spa they where having a kick about on the beach before with a few lads, only ÂŁ20 a ticket, next time they played Brid ÂŁ70!

Hottest and most exciting, The Mission in Bristol Studio. The bouncers spent the evening trying to hold the sound desk together surrounded by Goths

Loudest. Iron Maiden in Wembley arena. My ears have never recovered. It was fantastic

Best set. Pink Floyd with the Pulse tour. Nothing has ever come close to that stage show.

Most different. Some good friends are really into Opera and Mrs Bg and I went to Glyndbourne with them and saw Egine Onagin. It was an amazing production. Cost a fortune and was worth every penny.

Have also seen Madam Butterfly in the Albert Hall. The stage area was flooded with the performance on islands and lanterns floating on the water. A great performance.
