That farmer has just invited insurance and dangerous driving claims against himself.

I don't agree with them but they were doing no harm, at the end of the day its some ones father, son or brother that could have been killed quite easily.

Go outside and stand in the road, see how many people think you're doing no harm, tractor driver was doing no harm going about his lawful work.

I have met such protestors on many occasions at ports in years gone by, with 4 decks of lambs heading for export, never ever saw a wagon driver try a stunt like that, using a vehicle as a weapon, its what cowards do after they get beaten up in nightclubs, then drive in to pedestrians.

Abattoirs ring all deliveries informing them if they have protestors, so he will have had notice. Furthermore the tractor driver probably would have saved 3 seconds had the protestors not been there, yet he will spend the best part of 2 days attending court hearings. Where is the logic?

Whilst i agree with the sentiments (i just stop for their 2 minutes, no skin off my nose when there's a queue anyway), we don't get notified about protestors and the groups have stopped making it public on facebook. Admittedly we're not massive but this guy is clearly just a farmer too, otherwise he'd be in a truck surely?

I don't particularly like protestors nor am I a fan of vegans. But I have spoken to a few and have found that some are nurses, doctors teachers etc, some of the most caring people in society.

Just because they don't agree with us doesn't mean we can drive tractors in to them, they may be the ones treating our children in hospital one day. They were being daft but in no way aggressive and didn't warrant the tractor drivers actions.

My posts are not anti farming but pro common sense.

Indeed, of course I'd rather they not be there but we have to deal with the situation as it is. I used to just creep through but now the girls sit on the floor in front of you, not much you can do about that.

Its a pain I agree, but we have to be sensible don't fancy a trip to the Crown Court and a few weeks in the cell with big Frank as shower time may be scary lol

The police ought to be taking action, that’s just ridiculous behaviour and goes beyond what could be described as peaceful protest.

Saw one video where the protesters were giving the pigs something to drink. Probably just water, but I understand that this can be a red flag and the meat gets destroyed rather than put into the food chain. Anyone got any information on that?

I certainly wouldn't be stopping on my own either - going 10:1 against a bunch of angry vegans who were prepared to lie down on tarmac on front of me. I'd be fearing for my safety and keeping the pedal down just like that chap.

Yes i have heard about that and do worry about condemned loads because of it. That would be a massive issue for us as there is no second chance in the week for us to slaughter pigs at our abattoir.

To be honest, the Sussex lot are not angry in the slightest and usually very grateful that i've stopped. They keep accurate time of their allotted 2 minutes (i was prepared with a timer on my phone but they were updating me on remaining time anyway).

I dont know the site at all, but the angle of the film I saw suggests the guy in Hi Vis was actually round the corner from the drivers view.
It is high time the police took action against these people blocking the public highway, they are committing actions liable to cause a breach of the peace.

What’s that tractor and trailer combo worth? Easily over £100,000. To my mind that’s pretty valuable plant.

The driver has no idea of the intentions of the people in hi vis. None. Not a clue. But they appear hostile.

So we have a driver in charge of plant worth a lot of money, and unknown persons of unknown intent and hostile appearance attempting to make the driver stop for reasons unknown. Are they going to “bear witness” by photographing the livestock, then allow the driver to proceed? Or are they going to drag him from his cab, beat him and steal the equipment?

Bear in mind some of the people that attend these demos have links to extremely violent terrorists who think nothing of arson attacks, letter bombs and desecrating graves.

The driver did nothing wrong in my mind. Some may think I’m being dramatic, but I recall a mob dragging two men from their car, beating them unconscious and shooting them dead after they were stopped by persons unknown. This happened on British soil as well.

.

Their intentions are obvious, they are there to cause trouble. They are dangerous fanatics.

Vegans would be overjoyed if one of their number was able to further publicise their ideology through Martyrdom.

It is no coincidence that the whole stunt is on video.

I think you are being dramatic. I presume the instance in your last para was the sad demise of the two undercover soldiers observing an IRA funeral. That really sickened me to the pit of my stomach but I don't think we are talking anything like that here. Yes there have been arson and other attacks but not at these protests.
