Livestock finance

Looking into livestock finance to speed up expanding my flock. Am I mad to even think about this or is it quite common? Feel like it might be a “he who dares wins” time.
But who knows what’s round the corner.

Plenty expand their flocks using overdrafts or the Bounce Back Loan, both of which are a source of finance.

If you can make the repayments work then why not? What sort of interest rates are there on ‘livestock finance’, I would imagine quite high?

Those who dare wins, or you’ve got to be in it to win it both appeal. There are some options available between different groups/slaughterhouses/ dealers etc etc…

I know where your coming from.
But I don’t wish to decrease my ewe numbers I have at the moment and wish to expand,

I’ve sold all my culls and dead wood, that will help for sure.

Maybe most finance brokers can offer it for cows and sucklers
Not sure about ewes?

ANM will finance breeding stock and will give better terms for young farmers/new entrants.

Most of the big operators just use the auctioneers for credit. That’s why everyone else has to pay on the day!!

I think it was always there if you asked . Makes sense really , without the breeders you don’t get the stores.
