Mum tried growing them a few years ago. Very successful too! They were bloody everywhere. In the end I tied a box too our front gate and put a “Free too good home” sign on it. As fast as I put the marrows in it they were going! The next year she suggested growing them and dad, my brothers and I had too be very firm that we would dig up and dispose of any marrow plants we found!

Mike has decided to call it a day and retire, and so hasn't reopened it, much to my son's disgust.

Can’t say as I blame him. Selling poultry has got too be one of the most soul destroying types of livestock too sell??

No, he's had a change of direction and has started breaking horses, something which I have to say he appears to have a knack for.

The closing of Penkridge poultry market coincided roughly with when he left school, and he'd been dabbling in a few pony's for a year or two so a natural progression I think.

Plenty of poultry every Tuesday at Stratford and an easy run down from Birmingham, most of the poultry buyers I speak to come from your neck of the woods.

Yes, but tbf it does depend how much the auctioneer likes the sound of his own voice . Michael certainly must have done.
