tricky question, you need plenty round the ring, to 'drive' the trade, anything looking cheap, to someone, puts a few extra bids on, sellers need to be there to 'judge' prices, and answer any questions/problems. At least there won't be a canteen for the dealers to have a 'little' chat beforehand, while drinking a cup of tea !

What I would like to see is vendors dropping stock off, buyers being present but also putting the sale process online for vendors or those wanting to gauge trade to be able to "attend" virtually.

If I can deliver lectures via Microsoft teams with live webcam broadcast then it should be entirely possible to conduct an auction in the same manner - buyers can bid through the live chat window.

Ebay seems to manage, though I appreciate no live animal sales. If the market is wide enough, buyers will quickly spot what seems to be a bargain. Isn't there a site "Sellmylivestock" that is doing rather well? Yes, here we go. 65,000 farmers can't be wrong. Maybe be one for TFF?

It seems the sensible thing to do at the moment, particularly with fat stock, bit harder with stores, Hopefully the relationships we build up with the buyers of our own stock will help if not there to represent stock and trust in the auctioneers selling stock to do the best for you.

be ok as long as dealers dont see an opportunity to play silly sods , auctions will never recover if they allow it to happen . I havnt sold a lamb deadweight since F+m for same reason .
landlord has set up a shop in their pub carpark sell veg from bristol fruit market , cauli is 4x price it was last week wholesale ?

calves at Salisbury tomorrow, dairy at Exeter Friday, lets hope they happen, and keep going, if not...… for us, fb calves, or crappy other will have to be shot, there is only so much we can manage, and the really important ones, are the replacement hfr calves, no point in letting them suffer, because of to many others.

You can't feel the finish on a fat Hogg via live chat. Weight alone is no indication of finish. Can probably sell store cattle like that but I'd want to feel sheep before buying. delivering lectures is nothing like buying stock for your business.
