These little characters glad to see a bit of sun on their backs 5 mths old . The cow seems to think it's her job to look after them .

Not quite livestock photos but I am the carrier of some special Dun and Belted Galloway Herd books back up to Scotland including this First Volume 1921

Here are some extracts

This belonged to the Late Christopher Marler but I don’t know who originally noted the bull that was renowned for swimming out to sea !

I feel very honoured to have this in my hands before it goes to its new owner on Friday

Sproats and Grahams still farming round here. Brown family sold up. My great grandfather would be a tenant on Knockbrex estate until 1926. Just a short walk for the bull to swim in the sea from there.

Same man and recent BG chairman I think. My neighbour was breed secretary for many years. Herdbook entry would be his grandfather I presume. Main farm is Irelandton where the first F&M outbreak was in this area so he had to rebuild the herd. I think the herd is called Auchengassel. His brother Willie is retiring from farming this week having sold several local farms so a major farming family.

TwoMills are delighted to announce the purchase of Dunay Willow from Lucy Pittendrigh with bull calf Blaircochrane McKenzie at foot and back in calf to Mr Maxwell’s top price bull at Castle Douglas 2018 Lomond Tamnovulin.
Having Dunay Tavish as current stock bull , I really wanted a Dunay female alongside him.
McKenzie is by Off The Wall Tiberius with Lullenden Aztec Warrior as Grandsire. #beltedgalloway #friendswithbelties @ West Linton, Scotland, United Kingdom

They also breed Angus

I took a few photos of him

Anne Bell is a great breeder and her Grandson Hamish did well with handling and showing him. You were lucky she agreed to sell at the price !!
Anne is a legend. She was surrounded by her grandchildren on Friday which was a lovely sight

Here we are on Friday night at Dalbeattie with many of the Bells including Anne. Riggit Galloway breeder's pizza night post sale - which is becoming a bit of an institution in it's own right
