After quite a while of thinking he spoke a lot of sense I’m working through his training programme at the moment, very interesting, particularly the thinking behind deciding what to do.

@Guy Smith are the NFU aware of this bloke and his ideas?
Same with you and Arla @farmer on a bike?

We are aware of Allan Savorys views. I agree with some but not all.

As I've said before I think it can be a waste of energy thinking the farming industry must constantly rebutt extremist vegan arguments. There is no evidence I've seen of veganism becoming increasingly popular.

Hi @Guy Smith agreeing with Some is better than none.
There is no panacea, we all know that, but respect to those that keep looking. Not relevant to us here but in other parts, maybe. It's the message of surprising complexity that is important.

what training programme is that?

With 3LM, the UK Savory Hub http://3lm.network/get-involved/ to become accredited with Savory https://www.savory.global/network/#.

Absolutely fascinating, especially what you learn about yourself; the grassland management everyone has latched onto is only a part and you can adapt the thinking to any decision making and implementation. I see it as the best way I have found to work out how to survive and enjoy a changing world. You also met a fascinating bunch of people taking control of their destinies.

Just took a class a few days ago. Especially liked the decision making process. Applies to any decision, doesn't have to relate to farming

Talking about this yesterday of a cuppa with a rep. He was saying that the in arable areas of Scotland (Lothians and Angus) the organic matter content of the soil is 1% or even less. In a dry spring these areas become a dust bowl.

Obviously on a smaller scale than the OP but still the same theory

Likewise - it has been the biggest breakthrough our household has ever seen.

You can even call it tidy in here!

Shame 'holistic' is still 'alternative' really :banghead:
But here we all are :)

Quite right. Waste of time arguing with them.

Instead we need to promote and market the benefits of our affordable, high welfare, environmentally sustainable, healthy, grassfed meat and dairy products to our customers.

If only we had an organisation that helped us with this rather than having to do it at an individual level.

You could always form your own!
Some enterprising Kiwi people have set up a 'cartel' -I believe this is the new forum term for group- that organises and facilitates sourcing organic livestock, stores, etc, organises processing and marketing of organic grass-fed beef and lamb into the US (sorry @Dead Rabbits)
So if we can do it with a small number of producers, then the sky is the limit!
You may find, you'll be waiting a long time to see someone else take a punt - why not be that guy?
Could be an extremely lucrative and rewarding business really, you have the vision for it (y) and likely a few supporters a tad disenchanted with the current state of play...
....just saying... but your current level of support as far as marketing goes would not take much eclipsing.

I like the idea of 'selling groups'. I write a contract that says I have the sole control of your product when it comes to marketing. You pay me an annual membership fee. I then gather up two dozen farmers with similar spec milk, and then get various suppliers to bid for it for the highest price and best terms for the producers. Bingo.

Not really that difficult, is it.
Except for the farmer factor - which means one will sell out, in spite of buying into the group, for a lower price- and all the rest follow suit.
"For cashflow" :banghead:
"Because I needed the grass" :banghead:
"Because my lambs were ready" :banghead:

But it's the processor who is the farmer's WORST enemy :inpain:

(I tried, I failed, will have to raise the membership fee next time)
