Probably found something not quite right, had a roadside pull once, they got very aggravated when couldn’t find anything wrong, eventually found a flat washer missing behind a Nyloc nut,
Did make me smile.

I would wager it was a spot check and he got lippy. If so, it serves him right.

If that was not the case, they found something dangerous.

In either case, they were right to send the driver home with a flea in his ear.

Bartletts bought a 6 wheeled Cargo when I was there, dropside tipper.

He had it all painted up lovely and a chap named Trevor had it. He managed to strip the clutch out of entirely on about his fourth day by dropping her into low ‘box at speed. It had several problems in less than a month and was moved on. As was Trevor!

I don’t know to be honest.

I was thinking it was a Cummins but you could be right.

ps. More bother with the AEC @Mursal
Just fitted the front head gasket for the third time. Nobody can find anything wrong but I’ve had a new set of head bolts made this time.

So I booked an MOT for Thursday. Took me all day today to trace a horn problem and the windscreen washers have now packed up. Started her up this evening and oil is now pouring from the back of the lift pump. Busy day tomorrow!

She knows how to break a mans heart.

Mmmmmm I don’t think it’s a crime to be lippy. Luckily avoided a pull so far and I would try to suck up whatever came my way but some of the stories you hear would provoke a saint....

Last time I got pulled in, granted a few years ago now, I was quite happy with their service to me as one of their "customers". It was a flatbed 7.5 tonner and I was on my way back from Harrogate after putting up one of those horse field shelters when the yellow and black chequered motors invited me to follow them to the next services. The truck was coming to the end of its plate and this was its last trip out before going off to the truck garage the next day so they were going to find the odd niggle. For a start, it was a poor starter and when the yellow coat came up to me I pointed out that if I stopped it then there was a greater chance it wouldn't start again unless I was on a slope. "No problem driver. We'll deal with that if it happens" was what he said so I turned it off when asked.
Out came the magic hammer and I ended up, well the boss did, a notice for a broken silencer strap and was told to carry on my journey. Turned the key and nothing.
To be fair to them me and my mate were told to stay in the cab and another four yellow coats appeared and push started me across the carpark. I so wished I had the bottle to have taken a picture of them lined up at the back of the lorry but I think the good humour from them might have evaporated a little

It was a few years of driving before I had my first pull. Which probably was a good thing as whilst still wet behind the years I was occasionally a bit daft regards weight and hours.

They were always fine to be fair and soon on my way... couple of things they picked up on but owt serious.

The Cargo that my old man had was fitted with an air cooled Deutz engine.

I seem to remember it wasn’t the quietest of beasts, or the powerfullest either.

A push start is never a good thing from an inspection, but to notify them in advance ..........
I've allways found that 99% of the time that when you deal with officialdom whether being pulled by a policeman or womble it pays to be polite and civil. They are doing a job, even if a little misguided to your own way of thinking, and if you treat them as a human then you will be treated the same as well.
For those rare times you get the Jobsworth it's far less stressfull to let them ponce and strut about full of their self importance and bide your time as there's allways someone higher up the foodchain that can sort out their attitude even if you have to go to the top. Those little Hitlers can pee you off at the time but keep that thought in your mind as they throw their weight about that they will come unstuck ;)

Not a crime, no... but if someone gives you an undeserved earful, the last thing you're going to be is accommodating. If there is even the slightest hint of a problem, even if you'd let it slide every other time, you'll pull them for it.

I would.

Just for the record I would definitely start off being nice and polite but if I had the treatment some of my mates have had I would probably get quite rude..... if they are professional so would I be.
