Had the pleasure of Eddie in the yard today. We only use two haulage companies and both are excellent. This is one amazing truck and a credit to its driver “Eddie T” ... never be late in a V8

Thought to myself often, if I was a single man, I’d like to have a go at combine haulage, as Manners often do.

I fancy a nice airbrush job, just on the back of the cab, all moody and dark with a hooded bloke and a scythe.

But a bit more cheerful on the sides!!!

Did I mention that V8 belonged to AEC / Leyland before they sold it to Scania.
They had it in the Mandator tractor units tied to an auto box, what a pity they missed the opportunity.

That's correct, it was breaking crankshafts and continued breaking them in the the Scania 140's /141's
Turbo boost was a bit aggressive .........

very smart I think i saw it on the front cover of one of the truck magazines in the paper shop today.

Twenty years ago Dad had a couple of lorries and we used to haul for a local feed firm. These trucks were in most days bringing pot ale syrup from the distilleries in Scotland. Lovely fleet.

You’d no more get me sitting atop a Detroit engine for 27 years than you would get me sitting next to Chris Packham for 27 minutes.

We had a Detroit V6 in a Big A 2500 for a couple of years. Bloody horrific noise. Whereas the Cummins V8 555 “Triple Nickel” we had at the same time was like beautiful music.
