Beautiful. If you can drive one of those Bentleys you are a good driver
Followed one on the road one day….it wasn’t slow! (Twisty Country roads)
Turned out it was a Bentley owners club tour of Britain….unusual country pub car park parked out with vintage Bentleys for a lunch stop over.
Remember on of the Bentley Boys wife not being overly impressed with the somewhat rugged rural menu on offer….

Not boasting but have one in the shed here.... similarly takes a bit of proper driving, open top too, so proper wind in the hair experience, but prefer to call it a Bent-ley land...

Have you got a picture? My late uncle had a 4.5 litre 192something Bentley that will now belong to my cousins. It is a beauty, my dad (who is a time served joiner) helped him restore the timber framed body work, which was ash iirc - with every piece stamped with the Bentley logo.

I went on a few trips out in it as a young boy, i didn’t know a great deal about driving but remember my uncle doing a lot of double and double de clutching! For a car built 100 years ago boy it can shift. I remember my uncle parked in our yard one day and a Sierra Cosworth flew past the gate, my uncle jumped in the Bentley and shouted at my auntie to get in he was going to race it over stainmore. Not sure how accurate the speedometer is in it but I have rode in it registering 95 which as you will know feels amazing with that beast roaring in front of your knees.

Bill Sowerbutts , the one time radio gardener had a Bentley car . Nothing like these ones but I used to occasionally get a lift home in it . I thought it was the bees knees . When I was based in Derby - backalong as G in G perhaps would say , Royces - nobody in Derby ever used the Rolls bit of their name , had a sawn-off Bentley with a wooden flat (long before P U 's were popular ) which they used to run about Derby shopping , or on local errands . ( Apparently they regarded Royce as a practical man , and as such worthy of respect , whereas Rolls was just a "nowt-a-pound " financier , not worth a mention . They used to send a locked ammunition box of one size spanners to a local plating shop , who had the job of polishing and plating them . I envied them very much indeed , they were a joy to behold with the RR logo and polished and plated . By all accounts Derby Plating had to open the box in the driver's presence , and sign for the quantity - usually 50 . And the reverse when they collected them . They also came with a spec sheet that had to be rigorously adhered to - So many microns of copper first , so many microns of molybdenum (I think) and then a final chrome coat . (And each batch was tested for conformity . ) quality comes at a price !

Volvo's first factory built FMX 4x4 tractor unit. There must be potential to use them for farm deliveries and collections.
