Interesting. I wonder what the mpg implications are ?
I don't see any mention of fuel economy, suppose it's too early to say.
It has selectable 4 wheel drive but I wouldn't say it'll be suitable for distance work, more for taking the place of an 8 wheeler with the increased payload making up for reduced fuel economy.

If you’re getting artic loads of stuff, you really aught to have some concrete down.

That would negate the need for a 4x4 unit. Can’t see it’s use for farm deliveries, really. Grip can be an issue getting in to some places, but you just lift your tag axle/midlift to increase the load on the drive axle and you’re away.

We tip loaded artics in fields where we can. Another driven axle would be a great help at times. As mentioned, what would the mpg be but if it's selectable maybe not so bad?
Personally I'd prefer to see the rigid 10x4 tippers with 5 axles and a 25t payload. Seen some in Ireland but not here.

Volvo's first factory built FMX 4x4 tractor unit. There must be potential to use them for farm deliveries and collections.

They need to send them over here, chuck a fert sower on the back and a trailer behind it. (y)
Volvo lose out to the likes of Scania and Merc here because they don't do a 4x4

I recognise quite a few operators in this video

That’s ace!!!

I actually drove one of those lorries. 30-40 seconds in, the F7 that belonged to Gary Bartlett. I only drove it once, just a few miles to collect a load of slabs and it didn’t have the trailer on. It was immaculate, a real beauty.
At 5 minutes 45 seconds there is Joe Bartletts F7 eight wheeler (With his Dads name on) I never drove that, in fact I think it was gone before I started working for Neil Bartlett.

It’s a pity there isn’t a pic of W Freeman & Sons F7 eight wheeler driven by a chap named Jim, that was a beauty too.

Can't speak for driven front axle but the difference in fuel economy between a tandem and a boggie lorry is usually only a few percent.
